Spring Clean required on Betty Dawes Hill

Posted by labourblogger on March 8, 2009

Jamie Shaw working hard for Stourport and Areley Kings.

On checking to see whether the new street lights promised on Betty Dawes Hill, (see previous blog), were in place, I found they were, albeit not yet ready for use. However, as one task in this area is removed from my “to do” list, it is replaced, not by one, but by several others.

On Betty Dawes Hill itself, the surface of the footpath is very uneven in places. The bench at the side of the footpath has been vandalised and needs to be replaced. The land above and below the path is heavily littered, featuring items as large as a pushchair and two garden chairs. At the top of the path, graffiti has been daubed on the walls of gardens in Ryvere Close. To the one side of the top of the path stand abandoned garages, which, predictably, have been vandalised. To the other is a traffic roundabout. Its unkempt landscaping was removed at my request some time ago, but, instead of suitable re-planting, it features nothing better than grass. The responsible agencies are the district council, the county council and Wyre Forest Community Housing. I shall contact all three to request prompt action this Spring.
