A special welcome to those who are reading this having been referred here by the March/April edition of the Areley Kings Rose.

The Larford Factory Site Planning Application : This plan for 58 “live/work” residential-properties-with-workshops on the brownfield site in neighbouring Astley has been withdrawn.

Construction of one dwelling at 46 Hanstone Road : I moved that this application be refused, on streetscene grounds. My proposal was successful and a refusal notice was issued. However, the applicant appealed against the council’s decision. The case was heard by a Planning Inspector in Bristol. Unfortunately, he sided with the applicant and overturned our decision. Building can now go ahead.

Dunley Road-Areley Common footpath : The tidy-up requested by a Rose reader has been carried out by the town council. Where footpaths are overgrown, I am pleased to report that there is now a simple method of getting them cleared through a town council workman called a “lengthsman”.

Access Road behind 18-28 Hanstone Road & 100-86 Barnfield Road : This week, I have requested Wyre Forest Community Housing to clear the rubbish and other debris from both sides of this access route. I’ve asked several times in the last two years without success, but now that this road is an access to the new adventure playground being constructed on what’s been christened Barnfield Park, I’m optimistic I’ll be heeded this time.
